Relacom Finland Expands Its Power Business Significantly

Relacom Finland has gained significant ground in the power industry by more than doubling its business.  Relacom now handles the construction and maintenance of electrical network across seven regions of western and southern Finland. The network belongs to LNI Acquisition Oy, a consortium* which bought the electricity distribution and district heating businesses in Finland from Vattenfall i December.

The agreement, which will extend for up to five years, means that Relacom now needs to recruit more than 30 employees within network design and field service.

Finland has  a well developed service provider-market in the energy sector. Thanks to its strong, proven production management models, the Relacom Group has succeeded in signing agreements with Fortum, EON and several other power suppliers throughout the Nordic region.

"This is a significant step in our ambition of driving field service improvements within the power industry in the same way as we have successfully done within the telecom industry," says Pekka Salokangas, Sr. Vice President.

The agreement also includes end-customer contacts, where Relacom provides customer site services to household on behalf of LNI.

The agreement took effect on 1 February 2012.

* The consortium comprises of 3i Infrastructure plc, 3i Group plc, GS Infrastructure Partners and Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company.
