Thomas Körmendi new CEO of Relacom
One year of consolidation has paid off – Relacom has begun growing again after focusing on northern Europe and expanding its range of services. Thomas Körmendi has been appointed new CEO to continue these efforts now that Johan Ek is stepping down after seven years in the position.
Thomas Körmendi has held several senior international management positions with an emphasis on sales and business development at Tetra Pak, Perstorp and, most recently, Cardo. His primary responsibilities as President and CEO will be to develop Relacom's leading position in telecom and lead continued growth in the machine to machine (M2M) and electricity/energy sectors.
"In many respects Relacom has pioneered a new industry: field service within telecom. Building on a stable base, we can now continue to develop and grow. I want to thank Johan Ek for his efforts and also welcome Thomas Körmendi. Thomas's extensive experience with international growth will be a key success factor now that we are shifting up to a higher growth rate," says Mats Lönnqvist, Relacom's Chairman of the Board.
Over the last year Relacom has launched a new strategy that includes a focus on the core countries Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Poland, winding down operations in Latin America, Asia and Spain, and a focus on growth in new areas such as M2M and electricity/energy.
"Now that the consolidation process is behind us and we see continued growth ahead of us, it's a good time for me to pass on the reins to Thomas and his unique sales and marketing experience," says Johan Ek.
Thomas Körmendi will assume his new position on 5 March at Relacom's headquarters in Stockholm.
